Frequently asked questions

Why fix a water leak?

A water leak can do significant damage to a property. A few common signs that there may be something wrong with your plumbing and pipes include:

  • Unusually high water usage leading to costly bills
  • Mould and mildew growth from excess moisture
  • Peeling paint or wallpaper
  • Wet spots on walls, floors, ceilings
  • Green patches on your lawn
  • Water pooling on the ground
How do I recognise a leak on my property?

You may have received an email, SMS or letter from Mackay’s Regional Council’s myh2o service saying that you have a water leak.

Do you notice a suspicious green patch on your lawn or water pooling on the ground? Is your water metre running even when all taps are turned off? Is your pool water level going down unusually quickly?

All these could point to a water leak. Don’t stress. All Plumbing & Leak Detection are the Mackay leak detection experts who can find and repair water leaks in any situation quickly and affordably.

Is it Council’s responsibility to fix my leaks?

If the leak is located on your property, then it is the homeowner’s responsibility and you should contact a licenced water leak detector service or qualified plumber.

If the leak is located in front of the water metre on your property, then you can contact council to fix the issue.

How do you find the leak?

All Plumbing & Leak Detection uses cutting-edge sonic equipment that harnesses sound to pinpoint the exact location of your water leak.

We use sound to pick up the distinct noise created when fluid escapes from a pipe under pressure. We amplify the noise that is created when water escaped from a pipe under pressure which is transformed into a detectible sound.

What if my leak is under concrete or tiles?

All Plumbing & Leak Detection’s equipment is very accurate, meaning we can locate the precise location of the leak, whether it’s under concrete or tiles.

We also conduct concrete and tile remediation work, in case your leak is located underneath these materials.

All Plumbing & Leak Detection will not only locate the leak, but also provide the work required to find it, fix it and put it back together.

Can you fix a pool leak?

Yes, we can locate and fix pool leaks in most cases. If you suspect a pool leak, please call our team to arrange an inspection.

What happens once the leak is found?

Once we locate the leak, we discuss with you the steps required to rectify the issue. It may be a simple fix, or it could require drilling, digging or cutting. We have specialised equipment that can carry out remediation work including concrete and tile cutting, as well as replacing those materials once the leak has been fixed.

We can also carry out excavator work if the project requires a complete replacement of the water pipe, as well as vacuum excavators (vacuum trailer or vacuum truck) which is a safe and clean method of exposing services. With this equipment there is no chance of digging through power or data cables. Once the excavation is finished, all the spoil is removed from site, allowing us to back fill the hole with sand.

How much does it cost for your leak detection service?

For domestic properties, our leak detection service is a $325 fee.

Remember, if we cannot locate your leak, it’s free*
